Ruggable 6 x 9-foot, medium pile rugs
They were so much better than our first Ruggable experience, enough so that — when the chance came to test Ruggable again a few weeks later — we decided to chalk it up as a blip. Our friend’s rugs were stunning, soft, and looked like “real” rugs, so we eagerly picked out the design ... Ruggable's premium, medium pile rugs are soft, plush, and easy to keep clean. But they're far pricier than many similar rugs on the market.

In 5 years we have gone through three area rugs. They get so stained and dirty from pets and kids. We got a carpet cleaner so I thought this one would last, but it's pulling out the fibers. I am really interested in getting a washable rug. Do you know of any that are less expensive than ruggable? If you have a washable rug, do you like it?

We just finally got done getting a refund from returning our rugs to Ruggable. They arrived with stains so we sent them back. They wanted to charge us a restocking fee. We said no. Then they would only refund us for one rug. We had to dispute the charge with the credit card company. We were going to just exchange the rugs, but they weren’t good quality in the first place. I’d rather just have normal area rugs.

2 weeks ago - The Salerno was also thicker than I anticipated and as durable as real jute rugs I’ve owned in the past. Most notably, there was no off-gassing or any of the strange smells that are often common with box store rugs. As for putting Ruggable together, attaching the rug covers to the pads was simple.

Ruggable Review: Are Their Washable Rugs Right for You? | Reviews by Wirecutter
August 4, 2023 - Ruggables range in price from about $150 for a doormat to over $900 for the 9-by-12-foot area rug (depending on the design and rug pad you choose), so while they aren’t as pricey as luxe designer rugs, they’re not cheap, either. Our staffers have either loved or hated Ruggables, and we don’t recommend them for every space. But in some rooms, they’re a smart choice. And they really are easily washable.

December 13, 2023 - I have owned Ruggable rugs and no longer have them. They are too expensive for the quality and are an absolute nightmare to get lined up in the pad correctly. I found an amazing alternative that is a quarter of the price and way better quality. The pad is built in with no slip grip on the bottom. They have an amazing selection in size, color, and styles. They are called REAL LIFE rugs and can be purchased on Amazon and Fab Habitat.

July 15, 2023 - The rug does tend to hold sock lint, which is a little hard to remove, but nothing a vacuum and a lint roller (for those very tough lint bits) can’t fix. I haven’t yet washed it in a machine since I want to preserve the quality — so I’ll add an update when I do. Another benefit? While an 8×10 Ruggable and pad start at $828 ($489 for the rug and $339 for the pad), the Rugs USA washable rug start at $475 ($295 for the rug and $180 for the pad).

November 20, 2025 - They're constantly doing collaborations themed to the pop culture zeitgeist (right now, it's all about Wicked) and have a more varied color palette to suit every type of homeowner, whether you're a minimalist who loves neutral rugs or a cottagecore-lover who adores woodland creatures and florals. My only gripe with the design is that, at least for the Ruggable I have, the dark blue and copper colors are much more faded in real life than in the stock images online, because the design is printed onto the rug.

I am shopping for some rugs and was looking at ruggable rugs. They seemed pricey for what they are. I am ok with it if they last. Would appreciate any feedback on them. Any other buy it for life rugs you can suggest?

I regret my ruggable purchases. The edges roll up, the larger sizes do not wash well even in my jumbo size washer and are a big pita to roll back out, the pad collects dirt and dust like nothing else, and I hate the big edge they leave between the pad and cover. I had to tape down all my ruggables to make them work and clean them with a bissel carpet cleaner vac, which obviously makes their big selling point irrelevant. The color faded significantly in less than 2 years, though the pattern is still pretty. The pile is low and feels plastic/cheap on your feet. Smaller ones are a little bit better but they also separate from the pad from heavy use. The shag ones looked like complete crud after one clean. I bought these on the washable premise and because I loved the color/designs. I’m keeping these while my kids and dogs are young/destructive and will replace with normal wool rugs as soon as we can.

They're awful. It's like using an enormous inkjet printout as a rug - virtually zero pile so it feels cheap, the pattern wears off almost immediately, and putting the rug layer onto the base layer without it being wonky and/or crinkled is a pain in the arse.

July 2, 2025 - You can really put these into the washing machine. Take it from someone who does this frequently. It’s just like doing a load of delicate laundry, only it’s a rug. They come out looking brand new! I wouldn’t and it’s generally not recommended to use these washable rugs outdoors. Even though they are washable – the pad is not washable. I would look into rugs specifically rated for outdoor use. Yes! In fact, I have a Ruggable rug in our bathroom and it’s perfect.
