Been searching for a new medicine cabinet and want one with an outlet inside (super small bathroom, would be nice to store our electric toothbrushes in the cabinet and not on the vanity mere inches from the toilet).
Seems like most of these come with built in LED lighting that’s kind of integrated into the glass of the mirror? I’m not quite sure how I feel about this. I always assumed we’d get a light fixture to go above the medicine cabinet. I’m slightly wary of the longevity of built-in LED lighting.
Do you have a cabinet or mirror like this? Do you like it? Pros and cons?

I don’t typically buy any products with integrated LEDs. Too many incidents of the driver or something failing, and impossible to fix or too time confusing to find replacements. I stick with products that have replaceable LED bulbs.

I have one and my advice is to get one without lights. The light will show through any future scratches or nicks (found that out the hard way) and then it looks bad. Love the outlet inside the cabinet, but if I had a do-over on our remodel I’d have an electrician install one in a regular (non light) cabinet instead.

We are considering replacing our bathroom mirror and existing wall light with a medicine cabinet that has lighted mirrors. The light over the mirror is AFCI/GFCI protected.
The surface mount mirrors we see are either hardwired or plugin. Hardwired makes sense in my head. Those are typically recessed mounts. But the surface mount medicine cabinet/lighted/mirror have a plug in.
My question is where would an outlet go for this type of mirror so it would be up to code and aesthetically pleasing?

Built-in vanities will have junction box inside them where the electrical connections are made. These would be connected to standard electrical wiring inside the wall cavity.
