First thing to consider is going to be whether it can be stored inside if you have winter or if it will remain outside all year. Will you have a place to store the cushions if necessary. I avoid plastic but the faux rattan Held up very well for me even in subzero temperatures through winter without being covered up. Buying patio furniture for the first time. How do I tell apart the good from the bad? Should I just assume anything cheap is worse?

Does anyone regret buying more affordable patio furniture?
Having gone through the cheap outdoor furniture circuit, skip the cheap stuff. Just go for the sunbrella fabric high quality furniture. It's not worth it to repurchase outdoor furniture every couple years. We ended up getting a sectional from Terra Outdoor Living. Pricey--yes. But definitely worth it. More on reddit.com

Looking for patio furniture. Planning on getting a sectional + fireplace as well as a dining table + chairs (planning to buy all separately though i've seen some places that have bundles together). I'm starting with the sectional but seeing such a big range in prices for things in similar styles. Some quick examples:

This is $900 from Amazon

This is $3k from Costco

This is $2k from Overstock

and yeah the Overstock/Costco one look a little nicer than the Amazon one but not by a ton. I'm sure they are but how am I supposed to tell? What should I be looking for when comparing these things to tell if they're higher quality? I tried hitting up a few stores over today but there's such limited stock that online seems like the only way to find something but I have no idea how to really shop for this. I'm in the mid-atlantic region for weather concerns.

April 15, 2024 - Quality of the furniture itself has to be equal to if not better than anything Ashley makes. It definitely won’t be worse, Ashley is bottom tier. ... Not very good quality. Ours started breaking in first month ... Also wanting some comments on it. The grey set online is.tempting me but $1500 is steep with shipping and tax. ... My Sam’s is getting a sushi kiosk!

r/samsclub on Reddit: Member’s Mark Brenton Sectional Set with Sunbrella Fabric -- Absolutely unacceptable experience — avoid at all costs
January 17, 2025 -

I purchased the Member’s Mark Brenton Sectional Set with Sunbrella Fabric (7pc) from Sam’s Club (Item #990365960) for just under $2,400 after tax and shipping. The set arrived damaged and unusable.

The delivery company showed up two days earlier than scheduled, and like all Sam’s Club large-item deliveries, they only offer a 12-hour delivery window where you must be present to sign. No flexibility. No courtesy notice. Just 12 hours of your time — wasted.

Sam’s Club’s solution? I was told I could either:

  1. Return the entire damaged 7-piece sectional set myself to a store — an obviously unrealistic and absurd ask given the size and weight of this item, or

  2. Schedule a return pickup, which means another full 12-hour window where I have to be available.

Their idea of compensation? A $300 “partial refund” — for a $2,400 product that arrived damaged and unusable. That’s barely 12% of the total cost. It doesn’t even begin to cover the damage, the inconvenience, or the hours I’ve wasted dealing with this. Frankly, it felt like an insult. And their excuse? “Returns are expensive.” So is buying large, defective furniture — and being left with no real options, no accountability, and no respect as a customer.

I’ve now spent two full days on hold with customer service, being bounced between departments, disconnected after 45+ minute waits, and forced to repeat the same story every single time. Most agents are unable to help, and there is no follow-through, no consistency, and no resolution.

The only path forward they offered was to accept $300, or spend two more days waiting for pickup and redelivery — again, in 12-hour windows. That is not a solution.

Sam’s Club has made it clear they do not stand behind their products and have no functional customer service structure to support large-item purchases. I strongly warn anyone considering this set — or any large purchase from Sam’s Club — to think twice. Once your payment is processed, you’re on your own.

I am looking for a sectional for our covered deck that can seat 5 people. I would love sunbrella covered cushions and a frame that will hold up for several years. I can't find much under $2,000, and most are $3,000k+.

I could purchase something much cheaper from Wayfair, Target or Home Depot, which look to have decent sectionals with "weather resistant" fabric on the cushions. I could easily spend less than $1,000 but wondering if this will be a huge regret after it faces the elements. Our deck is covered, but the furniture will still get sun and rain. I will purchase a cover for the sectional for winter and try to put it on when bad weather is expected, but I won't do it every night. Thoughts?

March 11, 2014 - My sister had a huge teak collection of outdoor furniture around her pool and it all faded to grey. You can mitigate that if you keep it oiled. Looks fine when it's grey, but better when oiled. I like the faded silver sheen look, just wondering about build quality and does it hold up. There are only a few reviews on Sam...
