Purchase the GE or LG version avoid Samsung More on reddit.com

The Samsung bespoke washer and dryer are very new so it's hard to make a long-term review. That being said, Samsung has an awful reputation. I sell appliances and the number of complaints I get on them are staggering. More on reddit.com

I got one (model WD53DBA900HZA1) for my mom back in March 2024, and it was great! Then, about 6 weeks ago, it stopped in the middle of a cycle (with wet clothes in it, door locked) with a "something went wrong" error. Samsung said not to try to open the door, they'd send a tech out to fix it. Tech arrived, fooled around with it for about an hour, then told me he'd have to order some parts and he'd return to install them when they came in. When he returned with the parts and installed them, it still wasn't fixed, so he said he'd have to come back with more parts (the same PC boards he'd already installed plus a new motor). That day came, and a different crew arrived with a guy in a Samsung golf shirt, which was a relief, but a short-lived relief. After they had reinstalled the new boards along with the motor, not only would it not start, the error message screen now just had the white oval where the message had been, but no message. At this point, it appears that every PC board in the washer has been replaced except for the touch screen. The Samsung rep then informed me that neither he nor the techs have any idea how these things work, Samsung just sends parts and tells them to install them with no additional instructions as to what to do should the repair fail. A fourth crew is coming out on 9/18 to attempt yet another repair, so we'll see how that goes. In short, the machine was wonderful when it worked, but Samsung's customer care has been dismal. My invalid mother has been without laundry for going on 6 weeks, and Samsung has done nothing to remediate the fact that outside laundry services are having to be used because their machine failed, and have outright refused to replace it until such time that they determine that its not repairable. While the bespoke line has indeed been better in terms of complaints, it also hasn't been out for very long so it's hard to make conclusive comments about their long-term reliability. I can't tell you a machine will last 10 years if it hasn't even been 5 since they came out. The laundry hub seems to be nothing more than their standard bespoke set but permanently stacked. Nothing special here, but that's not necessarily a bad thing as long as the bespoke line proves to hold up over time. What you can't fix is their after sales service. Say your bespoke does fail for some reason, It doesn't matter how well the machine is engineered if getting service is going to be a pain in the behind, which is still absolutely the case. Samsung is one of the most difficult companies for me to work with. Just last month they sent one of my customers the incorrect fridge (It was bespoke but that's not relevant in this case), but they refused to send them the correct one. We ended up having to take the loss ourselves. LG's front loads have always been solid with overall low complaint numbers, and the washtower has so far been no exception. LG didn't mess with their formula with the washtower, they only changed the controls really. While LG service also isn't great, it is generally better than Samsung by a decent amount, and finding parts for self-repair is easier too. My vote goes for LG, and if for some reason you decide to go with the Samsung anyway, get a third party extended warranty so you don't have to deal with Samsung's nightmarish service.
