r/Mattress on Reddit: Looking at the Sealy from Costco any advice appreciated!
May 27, 2023 -

My girlfriend and I are going to be moving in with each other and I’m looking to upgrade the mattress. We went to a mattress firm and had a wonderfully awful time but did figure out that we want the classic style spring mattress, firm, and a soft pillow top.

I am a back/side sleeper and she is a side sleeper. I’m 6’4 260 and she’s 6’0 230ish? and sometimes/every night a 60lb golden retriever will find her way up on the bed.

In our short time trying out different mattresses at MF before getting told they were done helping us cause we weren’t purchasing one that day, we liked the beauty rest, and sterns and foster but they were like 3200$ and that’s just too much. When we made our way to Costco we noticed the sealy mattress was under 1000 and I do love me the Costco return policy so I did a little more research. We narrowed it down to 2 mattresses and if anyone here has some input from using them it would be really appreciated!

The first one

https://www.costco.com/sealy-posturepedic-carver-11”-firm-or-13.5”-plush-mattress.product.100694157.html

And second one

https://www.costco.com/sealy-posturepedic-plus-ridgecrest-14”-firm-or-plush-mattress.product.100365517.html

Both would be a king/plush - we want a firm mattress with a soft top. These were our middle ground diecoveries.:

I honestly couldn’t tell you the difference between the 2 other than a whopping 1/2 inch. We did find ourselves at Costco the other day and tried laying on the non plush version and we both thought it was pretty good but still wanted that plush pillow top. Some things I guess I would be most curious about if someone in a similar stat situation as me had some experience with.

  • was this mattress able to survive some larger users?

  • were you happy with it down the road?

  • would a firm version and pillow top be a better option?

  • should I pick it up from Costco or have it delivered?

  • slats, box spring, flat board? Where we at with what it sits on?

  • if you hated the same mattress and returned it what did you wind up with after and same questions.

Absolutely have it delivered-- if you need to return it they will just come get it. If you buy from the store, you will have to return it to the store yourself. If you like firm, get the Kirkland Stearns & Foster Lakeridge Medium. It is much firmer than a medium, and a very nice heavy well made mattress. You can add a nice soft latex or memory foam topper. (I prefer latex toppers, expecially for a larger person since they are easier to manuever around on.) I returned this mattress because it was too firm for me, I prefer a true medium. But, the mattress was very nice. I hated the Sealy Ridgecrest Plush. It was soft and awful and the memory foam collapsed immediately. The Sealy Auburn also had quickly collapsing foam. I returned all three. After all that misery, I ended up with a DIY Arizona Premium Mattress (Bolsa Springs, medium blended talalay, bamboo zippered cover; then a soft blended talalay with a cover on top. I recently wrote a review here) LOVE IT. We are also two very tall heavy people and we are finally comfortable. If you go this route, you can get a firm layer instead of a medium, and still have that nice soft topper. Good luck! This journey sucked, but we are finally happy.

in my experience the store test doesn't give you a true sense of firmness because mattresses soften up quite a bit after about a month. just cuz it seemed firm on the showroom floor doesn't mean it'll stay firm. i strongly recommend avoiding plush if you want firmness. plush means soft. you want luxury plush or medium firm at the softest.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Costco Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid Mattress King review
March 15, 2025 -

I’m someone who tried doing too much research into a mattress and quickly became overwhelmed with options, how expensive it is and how slimy the mattress industry is. Analysis paralysis is very real with mattress shopping. I found this to be a very stressful experience.

Eventually I bought the Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid Mattress King from Costco. The mattress is listed as medium firmness and that seems about right. I’m 6’0 230lbs and my fiancé is 5’7 145lbs and we’re both very comfortable in the bed. I also find that I’ve been dreaming significantly more sleeping in this bed. Also our 3 dogs all love the bed and we finally all fit comfortably in our bed, upgrading from a queen

Reasons why I chose Costco and this mattress:

We went to a mattress firm and had decided a medium to medium firm was the type of bed we liked the most, but the prices were insanely high. They’re also quite clever, the stores purposely put the cheaper mattresses in hotter areas of the store and the more expensive mattresses underneath the air conditioning. When I found out the margins they were making on the mattresses it just made no sense to buy from there. Costco sells most things near cost, and you don’t have to deal with a salesman making an insane commission fee off you and generally making the buying experience extremely unpleasant.

The mattress is inexpensive! It was $550 on sale for the king from Costco. Costco has an amazing return policy and will take your old mattress. It’s soft but also firm. It feels great sleeping on my side and on my back.

I’m mainly making this post so it will show up in the search engine for others. If you’re not very picky and tired of looking, this mattress did not disappoint and was affordable. And seriously who the fuck is blowing 2+ grand on a mattress in this economy.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Best Costco Mattress? Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid Mattress vs Casper Cooling Select Hybrid
October 21, 2024 -

Hi everyone,

I am currently mattress shopping and could really use some expert guidance.

I tried some mattresses at mattress firm, and loved the tempurpedic adapt, but it’s just too expensive.

I want to get something through costco, and ended up between the Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid Mattress and the Casper Cooling Select Hybrid.

I’m 6’2 and have scoliosis so i need something medium firm to support my spine

Does anyone have any recommendations? Open to other costco suggestions too

the Sealy Posturepedic 'Belmont' from Costco?
I tried out what was, to me, a comprable model --same coil count, brand and the convoluted memory foam-- at a mattress dealer and found it to be very firm. No different in feel to me than other innerspring without memory foam. Good luck with it. I'm still figuring it all out and may go with a full on memory foam, poss, the Novafoam.

Very comfortable and firm. Costco delivery was and removal of old mattress were quick and convenient. I like the Sealy mattress a lot. Solved all my back issues. Only a 4 because it’s not Goldilocks perfect.
