I found something I wanted on another selling platform. The user told me it was listed cheaper on eBay and then sent me there username but I’m not able to find anything when I search it.

I tried to Google it and I do not see an advanced search option to select from user on? (Is this desktop only?) or is this something that no longer is possible to do.

What the heck is up with eBay search lately? Why is it so broken?
For as big of a company as eBay is, they had some issues over the years and decades which are pretty sad. They struggled years ago and even recently making sure their listings were mobile friendly. Combining orders is not as easy as it should be. Giving partial refunds can also be a hassle. The feedback system changed over the years, and in my opinion, not in a good way. Don't get me started on promoted listings and the money grab that has been. Customer service was good, then bad, then terrible, then it was good for a few years, and now it's pretty bad again. You would think a company which was one of the pioneers in e-commerce would be far ahead in the race with other e-commerce sites, but they lost the race to Amazon, and even newer sites like Etsy had features that were very useful before eBay adopted them as well. It still works fine for me. Make sure the "worldwide" button is clicked instead of "default". Sometimes that matters. More on reddit.com

r/Ebay on Reddit: What the heck is up with eBay search lately? Why is it so broken?
December 23, 2024 -

I really used to enjoy searching eBay. I'd use it for information, research, keeping abreast of trends and prices, casual browsing, etc. I use to have fun browsing and looking stuff up on eBay. But over the past year or two, the search function has gotten progressively worse. They've tweaked the algorithm in such a way that it makes the website and searching not only unfun but, honestly, barely useable. It seems like each month, I get more and more junk results not related at all to what I'm searching for. My save searches don't work correctly anymore. I can't exclude words reliably anymore. I can't narrow my searches in any meaningful way.

On top of that there's just some really odd stuff going on in general. Here's some things I noticed:

Word order matters a lot. If I search for "Black Lotus MTG" right now, I get 381 results. But, if I search "MTG Black Lotus" I get 503 results. How the hell is this even possible? It's the same keywords. It's the same damn search.

Sorting by Lowest Price, Highest Price, etc. changes everything as well. If I change the 503 "MTG Black Lotus" search to sort by lowest, it turns from 503 results to 118 results. Are you kidding me?

Also, in those searches, I'm getting a fair amount of Pokemon cards, Yugioh, even One Piece in my search results... and there are not even any keywords like Black or Lotus in their titles or descriptions.

Really hoping eBay changes back to a more reasonable search function. Collectors are pretty particular, and they can't find what they want to buy easily anymore. They certainly don't want to have to sort through a wall of sponsored junk to do so.

r/Ebay on Reddit: eBay Has Nerfed Searching by Seller Name in Single View - Here's How To Get It Back
February 14, 2023 -

If you type "seller:ENTERUSERNAMEHERE" into eBay search - it no longer works on desktop (it may still work on some apps). You have to click the seller User ID, and you're stuck with the less-productive-but-more-browsey quad item view.

If you want the traditional search tools, you need the following slug:

(eBay Domain Of Your Country) /sch/i.html?_ssn=ENTERSELLERHERE

With the eBay domain of your choice.

If you want this to keep working, submit feedback that some of us actually are more productive with one-item-per-line... which is why we spent time figuring this out.

Mods: Per rule 2, this is not a link (paste it and see for yourself), it's just a search slug.

You used to be able to search for specific sellers using advanced search but its no longer working. The option to search is there, it just doesn't work. I even put my own seller name in and it said nothing found. Any ideas?
