Updating this post: We ended up with a king sleep number i8 (?) without the adjustability. Decided we don’t need the up/down feature. Thanks for everyone’s input.
We’ve had a king sleep number for years and are researching our next purchase. We’ve been talking about the adjustable sleep number, king and I’m now reading great reviews for the nectar king adjustable. We’re also not sure if adjustable is the way to go. Any thoughts?
👧 side and stomach sleeper 👦back and side sleeper, restless legs
Both accuse the other of snoring. Approaching 60 yo too quickly.
We are in desperate need of new mattresses for our adjustable bases. We have a split king and need twin XLs. We are considering Nectar and Purple, but weary to pull the trigger on either. I've seen nightmare stories about them both and good reviews as well. However, the better reviews are usually from newer customers. Is there anyone that has been an owner of either for multiple years and still happy?
So i am buying a new mattress so far
I've tried out the sleepnumber c4 and p5 and p6 really like how it feels and the whole sleepnumber thing
And from a friend have heard great about the newer purple mattress 2 have yet to sit on one though
I am looking too spend like $4500 max
I like a mattress on the firmer side
I sleep all sorts of ways sometimes back, stomach, side it varies
I am a big guy 6FT and like 230lbs if that helps
If I get the sleepnumber I am getting their c4 or p5 and basic bed frame along with it
If I get the purple 2 I will get the firmest one and the power base frame so that is a plus
I have read some bad things about both companies and do not know what too do at this very moment
I currently have a older temperpidic mattress it sleeps too hot for me and just not a fan of it, I have lower back pain when I wake up. I would take a look at other temperpidic's just not too much time on my side with working nights and sleep during the day
Ps sleepnumber is the only mattress store in my area kinda have too go out of my way too end up in a mattress store too try other beds
I'll be honest -- it is rare to hear something good about Sleep Number beds. Everyone who I have met or talked to who has had one absolutely hated them. I read an r/AskReddit thread a couple days ago regarding something you would never ever buy again in your lifetime. Someone said a SN bed because they are awful, and that comment had >8.5k upvotes IIRC.
When I was looking for a mattress early this summer, I tossed out Purple as an option due to claims of sagging within a year. I also have skin allergies so the reports of allergic reactions scared me more than most.
Ended up with a Tempur Adapt Hybrid. We are still in the break in period but so far so good. I sleep very hot but I bought a set of 100% linen sheets from Target for around $105. I was skeptical but damn if they don't sleep so much cooler than the Egyptian cotton we had before. I haven't woken up with night sweats once since we bought them nor had that terrible feeling of being stuck to the sheets (shudders). They do pill, though. :-/
(Edit: words)
My last bed was a sleep number. Towards the end it felt like a glorified air mattress. There was sort of a dip where the two airbags join in the center of the bed. I wouldn't recommend it.
If you're sleeping hot, get a wool fleece mattress pad. (I think I got a Snugsoft) You'd expect wool to sleep hotter, but it doesn't.
