I'm looking to upgrade from the folding chairs in my recording room. Its largely used for podcasts, and so something that's comfortable and doesn't make a lot of noise is what I'm needing. My cohosts want ofice chairs. However, my recording room is carpeted so I'm trying to not use wheeled chairs or those plastic runner mats. I have a budget of about 300$ and am hoping to get 3 or 4 chairs.

Steelcase Amias in my area go for around 70-100. I would probably watch market place. Steelcase thinks also go for around 70-90, as well as steelcase leap v1s. I would scout out marketplace in your area, and see what the typical prices are for different models. If the chair is from one of the big brands in office chairs, steelcase, Herman miller, Haworth, humanscale, and I am sure there are others. Then you can buy replacements for the wheels that are just stands. The other option would be getting some cheap chairs that aren’t the best for comfort, and then save up for chairs either individually, or dedicate some revenue from the podcast just to chairs. This would make quality of life for everyone on the podcast better in the long-term while sacrificing short term discomfort. Based on comfort as well, I would also stay away from buying new chairs, just because it’s not worth it. Haworth zodys are rarer to see, but should have a cheap price tag used. You could also scout marketplace for used chairs frequently, and see if there are ever any very nice chairs being sold for way under market value. Though this would take months to find 4 chairs.
