Been on Sophos Endpoint Advanced for past 3 years and it's renewal time. The dollars and cents aspect of what to do (renew or switch) is a part of the decision, so I priced out top alternative products of Webroot SecureAnywhere, ESET Endpoint Protection Standard and Advanced, Bitdefender GravityZone Business, Advanced Business, and Elite Security.
Sophos as a straight renewal is more expensive than switching to the other products on a competitive upgrade purchase, with Sophos being anywhere from 16.5% more expensive (compared to GravityZone Elite Security) to 53% more expensive (compared to ESET Endpoint Protection Standard).
If I take an average middle ground for products with the similar competitive features to my Sophos license, it yields Sophos being 30-35% more expensive. In some instances I can get 3 years of a competitors product for the same price as 1 year of Sophos.
Mind you, this is just Sophos Endpoint Advanced, which doesn't include the Intercept X prodict (called Endpoint eXploint Prevention for on-prem product), which is an entirely separate purchase as an add-on, and it's stupidly expensive.
Switching out endpoint security products has it's own costs associated with it (often a royal PITA), but there's a good chunk of money on the table in this instance. I know Sophos is an often recommended product on r/sysadmin but does anyone feel it's worth the premium over the top alternative products?
