Hi, Currently have iPhone 11 and I'm hoping to upgrade to the 16.
Currently on magenta plan.
My phone is old but in great shape. I was surprised to see thread about getting $800 for a trade in. Figured they must have a high end phone plan or switching from another carrier.
Is my best move to trade in to T-Mobile, trade in to apple, or sell privately?

You’re one year too late. iPhone 11 doesn’t qualify for $800-$1000 12 is the oldest iPhone. always trade in your phones after 3-4 years. Never longer. 3 years is the safe spot.

I’m on a grandfather plan and was looking to upgrade my old iPhone for the 17. Was told by by T-Mobile I can trade any iPhone damaged or not for $830 without changing my plan. It’s not advertised they call it in house targeted upgrade. Anyone have experience with this? Sounds fishy

So I work for T-Mobile customer care and can promise you the promo is real and you do not have to make any account changes like a rate plan change nor add a line. Now every account is not eligible for it though. You’d have to call in and they can see if you have the targeted promotion, also to say this promotion is only available through customer care, I’ve attempted to send some customers to the stores, followed up with them, and store claims they don’t see the promotion. I’ve had luck with experience stores being able to get a customer the promotion if they are a targeted customer. Additionally you only pay sales tax, no activation/upgrade fee. So if you have good account finance credit, you’re only paying sales tax. This promotion is very real and has been going on a little over a month. Of course you have to turn in your device within the time frame and it not be a lost/stolen device but just about any phone you can trade in. Don’t listen to the users here claiming it moves you to another plan, cause it does not if you have this targeted promotion I can assure you 100% best bet is to call and see if you have it.

I get that are getting you to join into one of their more expensive plans, but it’ll take years for it to offset for most people unless they are grandfathered into a very low rate. Is Apple subsidizing the trade in?

They have a huge profit margin on some of their plans, especially Go5G Plus/Next. And let’s not forget that the trade ins they collect are also refurbished and sold to make them some money. If you take advantage of these deals you’re locked in for 24 months and if you cancel, you have to pay off the balance of the phone and forfeit the remaining credits. And let’s not forget things like insurance and accessories.

Hi All,
Quick question — are there any trade-in deals coming up this Thanksgiving for existing T-Mobile customers? I’m on one of the Magenta plans, and I’ve got an iPhone 13 I could trade in.
Just trying to figure out if it makes more sense to stay with T-Mobile or switch to Verizon.

For your plan probably not. If you move to Verizon get ready to pay $10+ more than the advertised price because of the taxes and fees that aren't included like on your plan. They do three year contracts as well. Unless the Verizon plan is significantly cheaper (which I doubt) you aren't going to come out ahead over just buying a phone full price.

I’ve read on here that only that as long as the front screen isn’t cracked, the phone turning on, and no water damage, then it should be good.
I want to trade in my wife’s iPhone 11 Pro Max in for the 16, but upon removing her case, I saw this.
The actual camera circles aren’t cracked or anything like that

So I have asked numerous times and have been told the back glass does not matter if its cracked, so long as the front is free of cracks and deep scratches(from Tmobile 611 and Tforce on twitter). Even when you go to trade in page it askes you if the front is free of cracks but mentions nothing about the back, BUT with your picture you are literally missing a piece of the back so not 100% sure.

Then they used my one-time credit to pay off another phone on my account, then stop the monthly credit on that line. Then somehow this negated my free AppleTV, so I got charged for that. This fall I ended up calling them every single month after my incorrect bill would post. They are the worst. ...
