TAGUETTE is an open-source web-based document tagging tool for qualitative data analysis.

You are able to use Taguette on our server for free at https://app.taguette.org and also install Taguette locally on your computer and/or server (if you'd like to self-host!).

Taguette is easy to use. Just upload your research data, highlight and add tags/codes, just as you would with highlighters and printed paper. When you are done, you can export both your code book and the highlighted/coded data for individual codes. Don't want to install a program on your computer or need to collaborate? It is a version of Taguette hosted on our servers for free use by anyone! We host this from a rented dedicated server from OVH, and our server's location is in France. To use app.taguette.org, you need to register with a username and a password. You can provide an email address optionally, which we only use in case you forget your password.

On a server. This is more difficult to set up, but users can then use that installed version with nothing more than their web browser! We host a publicly available Taguette server at app.taguette.org at the moment, so you can feel free to use that.

Install Taguette and its dependencies by running poetry install.

We will provide you with access to the App. New features that augment or enhance the current version of the App shall be subject to the TOS. We will store your data and present it only to you and the people you add as collaborators on your projects. By putting your data in the App, you grant us a license to store, archive, parse, display, and make copies of your data, as necessary to run the App.

So, to bolster a fair and equitable entry into qualitative methods, we've made Taguette! Contributing to this collective will help us develop and maintain the tool further, as well as continue to provide a dedicated public server for our users (https://app.taguette.org).

Once you have installed Taguette, or logged onto app.taguette.org, you will see a page that greets you as the admin and has a button to Create a project. Click that button and you'll be prompted to enter a Title and Description for your new project.
