Getting back into 3d printing after having not been able to for a while, and noticed a lot of things gone from thingiverse. I get if less is being added to it as people move to alternatives, but i would've assumed most of the models i had saved before would still be there. A ton of stuff was just gone, including a model i had posted how ever many years back. Anyone know whats up with that?

Thingiverse shot itself in the foot by not innovating, bad policy(Made you agree to waive your rights to your own creations), poor server performance and atrocious search funcion, dumb choices(removed download all button), and a very poorly handled data breach so many people pulled their models and migrated to printables or other repositories.

I like to use www.thangs.com because the search also includes results from other sites like thingiverse and prusa. But they also have 3d models as assets for video games and similar so not everything you can find on that site can be printed.

Thingiverse just needs to be put out of its misery. It's an ageing workhorse that everyone still uses but hates that they have to Thangs is a decent site, and the guys behind it are committed to continuing to improve it. Not only is it a good host in its own right, but it's also a decent site aggregator for Thingiverse (and otehr sites)

Great still, but Thingiverse has been broken for some time now + it and Printables now have short token lives (probably because of this app, ha.) Still my favorite 3D models app. Fully-local meta search is awesome! Thangs' meta does cover more sites, but Thangs has super scummy business practices.
