Eco thrift in Hayward is probably the biggest I’ve been in. If you like being lost in the racks, all Salvation Army stores organize their clothing by type and COLOR not size, so there’s a lot of browsing and often some good finds. I’ve spent a lot of time browsing the locations in Oakland Chinatown and on Park in Alameda. I also like Savers, they are all pretty sizable. I like the one in Redwood City, but it’s not the biggest in size. Answer from bbsfirstusername on reddit.com

r/AskSF on Reddit: Where is a good place to thrift shop here in bay area?
May 29, 2022 - There’s a bunch of thrift shops, consignment stores, and vintage stores on Haight Street. Some of them are still kinda pricey, but they’ll be more curated and better quality stuff. You mentioned Bay Area generally, so I’m gonna also shout out Black & Brown as well as Moon Zoom in San Jose.

r/askTO on Reddit: Best ACTUALLY CHEAP thrift stores in Toronto?
February 15, 2025 -

I grew up dirt poor and got all my clothes and gifts and home decor from the Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc growing up. I was in a small area and we didnt have resellers or any of that so you could actually get useful stuff. Now I'm an adult and I'm still dirt poor, but this time I live in Toronto. You see the problem.

I basically can't afford to buy clothes new at all. I've been wearing things to holes for years.

Any time I try to look up thrift it's vintage clothes resellers. Always massive amounts of money. The stores that ARE actual thrift stores get bought out immediately by people who can afford to buy new but don't. And almost none of these stores have furniture, it's just clothes... it's a hostile landscape out here! Plus I can't get out of Toronto itself easily because I don't have a car.

Are there any recommendations for actually cheap thrift stores, especially ones that have furniture, home decor etc, in Toronto proper? Things that aren't either run by or descended upon by vultures? I'd be incredibly grateful. FB Marketplace and the like are hit or miss, and I'm looking for physical locations.

r/bayarea on Reddit: What is The Bay's best second hand/thrift store?
October 25, 2019 -

I have been looking for thrift stores that carry a wide selection of second-hand goods. Ever since Thrift Town closed shop during COVID-19 it has been difficult to fill that void (RIP El Sobrante Thrift Town). I tend to look for camera gear and old electronics. ECO-thrift in Vallejo was my second go-to spot, but what are some places you like checking out for fashion or electronics?

toronto thrifting spots are pretty saturated and expensive and was wondering if there’s any places people in toronto go to to buy affordable clothing. value villages, salvation army’s, and plato’s or anything at kensington are so overpriced in Toronto that it’s hard to find cute and affordable clothes. could anybody please recommend any?

r/bayarea on Reddit: Question for thrifters
May 19, 2023 -

I've been thrifting here for 10+ years. Never full time but always a big hobby so I often hit a couple on the weekend and maybe make a couple stops during the week. I also have been going to the bins since just before covid.

I have NEVER found anything like what these people on social media are finding. A pair of nicely faded carhartts or pre-90s levis are totally out of the question. Any "grails" like a cool band shirt or awesome pair of Levi's seem totally out of the question. It seems like people elsewhere can find at least one decent pair of pants or a cool single stitch t shirt within a month of thrifting.

Is the bay area just really bad for thrifting? Again I don't do this as a full time job but still, the difference really shocks me.

I’m looking to upgrade my wardrobe but not a fan of aggressive consumerism and overpriced (albeit beautiful) products - any recommendations for good thrift stores/consignment stores that may also carry more luxury brands ?
