This looks very fidgety, and frankly, it seems like a gimmick. I would avoid it. Now here's the thing. Visual astronomy that you do with your eyeballs and astrophotography are two different animals, with different equipment requirements. I know that there are a lot of new devices that claim to do both, but they are as different as night and day. I would recommend putting your astrophotography ambitions on hold and focus on visual to start. Learn the sky, ask your parents to drive you to dark skies, feel what it is like to be outside exploring the skies. Cameras can do incredible things nowadays, but the experience of looking through an eyepiece and seeing light that has been traveling for thousands of years without any screens in between can't vibe replicated. So I would recommend a dobsonian telescope. You can still do some photography with a phone holder. Definitely the moon, some planetary, and I've seen people even able to capture the Orion Nebula through the eyepiece. Now if you don't care about any of that and photography is your calling, then I would recommend a Seestars S30. It's the S50s little brother, it's quite capable, takes awesome photos, and it's right around your budget. However, neither the S50, nor the S30 can image planets. They are strictly wide field cameras meant to image galaxies, nebula, star clusters, the Moon and the Sun. Answer from CondeBK on reddit.com

r/telescopes on Reddit: Is tinyscope worth buying?
January 12, 2025 -

Hi, since i was a very young boy, I was passionate about astronomy, and always wanted to have a telescope, now, when I'm 14, I saved money all year to buy my first telescope, I saved 300 dollars, and i don't want something that would disappoint me, so i found out about the tiny scope, Which is pretty cool for astrophotography, but i don't know if it is really good or not, or should i buy something else.

I took a look at the tiny scope. It looks very much like a gimmick and not at all worth it. For visual observing I recommend a dob in your price range. You can certainly find something that will be a great starter scope that will keep you busy many years especially if you find something used. I just got a skywatcher heritage 150p and really like it. I know some don’t like the focuser or open tube but it works well for my needs. If I had more storage space I would go for something a little bigger and closed tube. If you are interested in something more like the tiny scope, but actually good, the dwarf 3 and seestar S50 are both far better choices. If this is what you are after please save a little more and get something that you will actually enjoy.
