Download the extension or add-on for easy testing of password protected web pages, and JavaScript generated web pages using DOM validation.

Firefox: Go to about:addons, find the Total Validator extension and check that it is enabled. Chrome: Go to chrome://extensions, find the Total Validator extension and check that it is enabled. Click Details and under Site access ensure that On all sites is selected.

Download Total Validator and run the installer. Then install Chrome, Firefox or Edge extensions.

Browser extension changes

With this release include a Google Chrome extension, bringing one-click validation functionality to Chrome in addition to the existing Firefox/SeaMonkey extension.

October 2, 2025 - For accessibility, the free Total Validator Chrome and Firefox extensions allow you to validate the accessibility of a page as you surf along while the paid Total Validator platforms allow you to automatically check a group of web pages, restricted pages, and javascript-generated web pages at a go, and can generate the evaluation result of your entire website.

August 5, 2025 - Download Total Validator and install it. Click on the app and start a scan of your webpage. The extension evaluates your site for common accessibility problems and generates a detailed report.

When testing the source or DOM-generated source of multiple pages using a browser extension, the pause you specify here will occur after each page is loaded rather than before. You should not use this to ensure that all the javascript on the page has completed before testing. Contact us for a better solution. In any event, you should not use a value of more than 25000 milliseconds with Chrome or Edge because they have been programmed to stop extensions after 30 seconds of inactivity.

The extension works now differently: There is a new Developer tools tab, Html Validator.

The main change in v7.3 is support for finer control over what and when to skip validations on parts of your pages and CSS. This is useful if you know that something will fail but you are okay with it. For example safely ignoring "Probable" accessibility errors because they don't apply to your site.
