I’m confused as to what kind of strength I would need when working with say 20-30 tabs open and several excel files. Don’t want to go overkill and pay too much for features I’m not interested in. The Lenovo yoga and ideapad series are a bit too expansive for me. Would something weaker with say 8gb RAM and an older i5 processor be enough?
I don't know much about computers just looking for something for everyday personal use that'll be good to hold a good amount of videos and photos as I import them from my phone onto my laptop & have a lot. I don't have much $$ my budget is about $400-450 MAX I saw Walmart bc they're running an annual sale right now. TIA I’m thinking of getting the “ Acer Aspire 3 15.6 inch Laptop AMD Ryzen 7-5700U 16GB RAM 512GB SSD “

I bought an HP - ENVY x360 2-in-1 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 - 8GB Memory a few years back and I couldn’t possibly hate it more. My budget is smaller now than it was then, but anything to get away from this thing. I need a laptop for school work and I run a small business for which I use mostly web based applications such as Canva and google drive/ docs. I also need to be able to use Microsoft word and excel. I would get a chrome book, but my concern is that I would need to save too many files on it. I suppose I could get an external hard drive if it really came to that.
The HP envy just never works as it should. It’s constantly freezing, refusing to connect to the internet, among other issues.
I need something lightweight with great battery life.
Edit to add- I can budget up to $400 for this. A chrome book may be my only option at that price point
Gonna start with saying I probably can't go over $700-$1000. Im a teenager with a minimum wage job
Im not too picky about it but theres a couple specifications that I want. Preferably something touchscreen because I like to draw. I also want it to be able to run games like Minecraft or Genshin, not the largest games in the world but they're not light. Preferably something compact as well, doesn't have to be as small as a tablet or anything.
Please help I don't know how to buy devices, thank you
I’m just a regular person looking for a good, solid, reliable laptop. Doesn’t have to be brand new, ideally well under $1,000. Something that can play dvds and cds, has a good battery life, a good sized screen, but is on the newer side of old. Bluetooth a plus. I know I can go to a used computer shop, or look for used online, but would like to know what I’m looking for. It also has to be accessible without WiFi, but still have the capability. AND ideally have windows or a similar word program, and other apps, that can be used without a subscription and internet. Touch screen would be a bonus. Does this even exist?
I'm going into the second year of my Aerospace Engineering degree, and I'm looking for a new laptop. I want to transition from Mac to Windows. How good of a GPU and processor do I really need for my time here? I know that UCs are usually not hands on, so I want to know if I need something like a mobile workstation, or if a regular Windows laptop will do.
I'm currently looking at the Lenovo P1 Gen 7 laptop with these specs:
32 GB RAM
2 TB SSD
Intel Ultra 7 Processor
NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU
2560 x 1600 Display
The main drawback for me about this kind of laptop is that the battery life would be awful and the portability wouldn't be great because of its weight. I built this model for about $2.3k after taxes and everything, but I don't really want to be spending this much money if I don't have to.
In conclusion, I have two main questions:
Do I actually need a laptop with this a lot of computing/processing power for the purpose of the specific Aerospace Engineering degree at UCSD, or should I go for something cheaper, more portable, and less specced out?
How many actual classes will require me to design models in SolidWords, CAD, MATLAB, etc in the Aerospace Engineering degree at UCSD (MC25), and how intensive are they?
I appreciate any input!
i’ve had this laptop like 8 months and it’s always so slow and laggy that it’s basically unusable, and this is how it looks when i open the roblox HOME screen, and everything else is closed.
