Abortion rights supporters demonstrated outside the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday night and well into Tuesday morning. Some opponents also rallied outside the court in Washington but they were vastly outnumbered and left much earlier.

Democratic lawmakers gathered on the steps of the Capitol to voice their opposition to the anticipated Supreme Court ruling. They framed Republican support for rolling back abortion rights as an attack on a woman's access to health care and as a precursor for more restrictions in the future, including the banning of contraception and same-sex marriage.
