It's a great show! But as you progress, you see both characters are polar opposites haha. Still, it's really good and Nick's character is really conflicted and interesting. As someone else already said, a lot of people hate him (I like him a lot tbh) and I think that adds more to the show, no one is completely good nor evil, they are just people. More on reddit.com

The Guardian tv series just makes me sad after reading the translated novel (up to where it's translated so far). I watched The Untamed first and then read its novel and while there are definitely scenes in The Untamed that are completely different than the book or that are missing altogether from the show, the plot is basically exactly the same as MDZS. Guardian as a tv show is nearly unrecognizable in the book. They did an amazing job with the two male leads, they completely pull off the book characters but nearly everything else has changed. I don't know why they would buy the rights to a book and then completely redo the story. I get that the BL aspect of the story is banned in China, although it's obvious in the show that it isn't a "bromance" but why did they have to completely strip out the whole origin mythology plot from the book? Can I please transmigrate to another earth where we're not completely farking the planet up, committing genocide and where Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei get to tell their actual story as written?!
