UPS / Fedex Overnight Shipping?
Can you send a letter via UPS?
Can you believe the post office was going to charge me $30 for these Overnight Deliveries?
It's not often, but we use an overnight courier to mail physical items. Think paperwork, rollover checks, physical stock certificates. Honestly? Clients have piece of mind sending us a rollover check via UPS with a tracking number, over a regular USPS envelope. USPS service in our area is TERRIBLE.
However, our UPS rates are really expensive. A simple letter envelope is over $20. Over time, that adds up.
Do any of you have a solution for an overnight mailing? Something that is more cost effective? Is there a group discount, affinity code, or similar where we can leverage some economics of scale? Any best practices?
Thank you in advance.
I am being required by my employer to send forms to the home office via UPS with tracking. (Yes, USPS is easier!) Can you even do that? How? Website wasn't clear.
Sometimes customers just say like. The dumbest shit. This woman comes in with three envelopes, she's huffing and puffing, puts them down on my counter. I do my usual "hi how are ya what are we doing for ya today" and she says "I need all three of these overnighted." okay, I am capable of this. I start to pull up the screen to enter everything and start the shipment when she goes "and use express. those idiots over at the post office wanted to charge me $30 per envelope." of course my fellow TUPSS employees already see what's about to happen. I say "uh, ours are probably going to be more expensive, I can check on specific pricing for you but usually NDA is upwards of $40". In one of the snottiest voices I've ever heard from an adult woman, she goes "NO. I looked it up and you have a service called Express that ships overnight for $1.50. I want Express." as she thrusts her phone in my face and I see that she has googled "UPS overnight shipping price" or something like that and it has pulled up a blurb from the UPS website (you know how Google will cherrypick from webpages to try to display the answer ON Google? Yeah.) that says we offer something called "Express Shipping" for only a few dollars. I tell her that Google must have pulled something wrong, or that that service might be corporate in nature. we go back and forth a bit- it's mostly comprised of me going "we don't offer anything like that here look at the envelope its even CALLED Express Envelope and it only has specific shipping types and none of those are called UPS express" and her going "WELL WE GOOGLED IT SOOOOOO" until eventually I quoted how much it would actually be and the $80 price tag shut her up. She left totally butthurt but like.... Don't rely on a two second Google search? Google is not God? Anyways, does anyone ACTUALLY know what UPS Express is? And why it told her overnight shipping would cost a dollar or two? Godspeed my fellow blue shirts.
