Unless you are getting a big discount, it is better to stick with one safe option. Every time you use a vendor, you are obligated to share personal information that is prone to data breaches. HDFC and ICICI's FX rates are atrocious. I switched to IOB solely for better rates and was pleasantly surprised by the service. Inward remittance are credited in less than 24 hours. The branch manager and staff have discretionary authority so, they can actually help in the rare instance where there is a problem. Unlike with ICICI where the branch staff is both clueless and powerless and it took over a week of email follow ups. The net banking portal isn't great but the mobile app is decent. And it takes a week or longer to receive the debit card after opening the account. Apart from these two minor niggles, my experience with IOB has been much better than with private banks. And that is despite having ICICI Wealth and HDFC Imperia accounts. More on reddit.com
