What is your budget? Best buy, ebay, and Amazon offer excellent refurbished options with warranty. You can walk in stores like mobileklink and buy used with peace of mind. Or you can check facebook or kijiji (i wouldn't recommend this route if you are not a techy person as you can get easily scammed) More on reddit.com

You’re better off finding a refurbished phone at a real store I find that those you see n Kijiji or Marketplace are either grey market (meant to sold in another region) or stolen. If going that direction, check the IMEI and serial number and say meet at a cell carrier or police station if it is a truly used. More on reddit.com

The only time in my entire life I got fucked over by a scam was buying a used iPhone. I did all my diligence making sure the phone wasn’t blacklisted, literally everything you can/should do before buying one used. It was a younger girl selling it on usedvictoria, said she wasn’t comfortable meeting at her house and wanted to meet at a mall, I felt this was fairly understandable. Anyways, met her, bought the phone and took it home to setup. In the time it took me to get back home she phoned her provider to report the phone as stolen and was paid out for the phone as well as the cash I gave her. I did everything in my power to go after her, police, mall security/footage, threatening to go to court, it didn’t phase her and I was never able to get my money back. I will never buy another used lockable product like that used unless it’s from a good friend. The only thing I should have done was required to see her photo ID or pressed to meet at her address so I could take her to small claims - lesson learned. More on reddit.com
