maybe they fired the people that made the "new" brand and logo

This is not happening to all of corporate. They actually just got rid of some positions and combined them woth other positions and those associates were ssked to relocate and for the ones that their jobs are going away they are getting a severance pay depending on how long they have been on that position. Walmart just actually opened a bigger home office in Arkansas and hired on more associate for their new position. The company is not in trouble, but it's actually just the opposite.

Today and tomorrow will be mass layoffs in Walmart about 1500 people laid off from US offices. I’m the one who got affected and literally got this as birthday surprise after working for 6 years.

OP I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your job, especially on your birthday. That’s like one of the WORST times to get bad news :/ I do hope and pray you’re able to find something good (If not BETTER!!) and soon!

The articles I’m seeing say this is about corporate employees. Does that mean that the field associates etc are safe? I’m sorry, OP. That’s garbage of them to do to you.

Have you been to a walmart recently? it's one step above dollar general. sometimes it has better prices, but the whole place is dirty. the shelves are not stacked nicely, a lot of stuff is sold out. even basics here like kitchen utensils. i went to walmart a few times last year. many times leaving empty handed as what i expected to be there doesn't exist. it's really interesting because walmart in Canada is really nice. it's more expensive, but very clean and always stuff on the shelves. but they are 10% of the market the US is. if i need something quickly there's the grocery store, sports/clothing stores and if i really can't wait for amazon, as my last choice, target.

It's soft layoffs. They're closing some office locations and completely getting rid of remote workers (but not the ones in India). Employees affected are assigned a new location, not negotiable. If they decide not to move, they will be laid off. No changes to compensation if they decide to move. I heard of someone from Reston being assigned to Bay Area - good luck surviving there on Reston salary. I don't know the numbers but it's across entire US, all departments.

they hired a lot of tech and product people in 2021-2022. Paid very well too. I guess Walmart extracted whatever they were able to get out of them and dumping them.

This is not a usual place to do layoffs! It’s not silicon valley that you lay off people and then they have other companies to turn to. How can you practically make people move here in a hell hole like Bentonville and the lay them off. Are you frikkin stupid? Do you want people to commit suicide? You don’t let any other company come here, you ask people to move here and then you take away their job? What is this emotional roller coaster, do you want us to die literally?

unfortunately this is nothing new to the people who’ve been here all their lives. My mom worked for Walmart for 20+ years before she passed, & I remember her and her friends talking about layoffs at least once a year. This was back in the early 2000’s.. like clockwork they’ll cut out a whole department 😕 Best of luck to you or anyone you know affected!

As a fellow employee who’s been laid off before you’re being wildly dramatic. You’re a priority for the company to rehire, Bentonville isn’t a “hellhole”, there are other companies up here, and threatening suicide a week afterwards means you needed help beforehand. So I noticed this in my profile. I was not talked to about anything and to my knowledge there aren't supposed to be any layoffs, although they did hire some new people. I work ON stocking and my schedule for the week of the 9th through the 15th got dropped down to 29 hours even though I'm full time. I have not gotten my schedule for the week of the 16th to the 22nd and I feel like these should have dropped already?

I'm only at 2.5 points so I'm not entirely sure if this is just a glitch or something?

I believe that's the start date of the 2025 fiscal year. Walmart's "2025" doesn't start on Jan 1st, so that Feb 2025 date is the refresh of a new year. I have the same availability end date with 0 points/40HR a week for the next 3 weeks, you should be all good.

The availability on the app will almost always show a date about a week out, if you click on the “view details” it will say “view weekly availability” .

Just got laid off as a SWE from Walmart Global Tech, after only working there for THREE MONTHS. That's right THREE. I just moved here, moved my entire life here, signed a lease, bought furniture, got situated then boom. Goodbye. My last day is Friday, so many things to figure out AHHHHHH.

Now my first SWE job is a 3 month role on my resume. Not sure what I'm gonna do, just a vent, sorry.

I think some people forget that there is no resume Gestapo that come to snatch you up if you get creative with timelines on your resume. Or even forget to leave something off. Or embellish things from time to time. All to say - there are no rules to how you manage your resume. Just keep that in mind.

Just say corporate mass layoff it’s not like you were individual fired any good references that will vouch for you

Also it appears all level 2 employees have been cut???
