I'm in the process of migrating my website before renewal. They just sent me this email:
You’re receiving this email because you’re currently subscribed to a Weebly service plan that has been discontinued, and your account will be impacted by an upcoming plan change and price increase.
What is changing?
The Business Site plan has been discontinued and will be updated to the Premium Site plan upon the date of your next renewal, November 18, 2024. The annual price for the Premium Site plan is $864.00, or $72.00 per month (plus applicable taxes).
This is the lowest-cost Weebly plan that includes access to the features you currently enjoy.
Why are you making this change?
In 2019, we launched our current set of Weebly plans alongside the previously existing plans. To help streamline operations and to continue to serve users like you, we’ve decided to align all Weebly plans to the current pricing model and discontinue the legacy plans. These pricing updates reflect the current cost of maintaining and supporting the Weebly platform while continuing to offer competitive pricing to our customers.
I'm in Canada and this is USD pricing. So, obviously they don't want my small business. Just a heads up to anyone paying for Weebly - move elsewhere!

Yes, what a bunch of bs. I've been a customer from nearly the beginning of weebly. Fuck them. And giving so little notice of that huge rate hike in under a month? That seems a bit illegal to notify a user of their hosting subscription ending and having to agree to pay over twice the previous fee to either pay up or get out. A bit like extortion imo. I'm going to look into the legalities of this time frame and it's obvious cause of disruption to business. What is the best way to transfer a weebly site to another web builder as seamlessly as possible? Looking for options.

They seem to have different prices for different regions and they might also change the pricing from time to time. It doesn't seem to be based on whether you're using the default Weebly builder or the limited Square builder, but it might vary based on the store/e-commerce part. There are quite a few alternative services that include both a website and a shop in one package, that might be both more affordable and have better support. You can check out Ecwid (has a shop and a starter site) or Shopify to see if they fit your requirements better. If you still want to keep your existing Weebly pages but move only the shop, Ecwid also works inside Weebly as an app. More on reddit.com

You can pay me a 'monthly subscription' and I'd still not use that service. Your choices are WordPress, Squarespace or recreate the HTML yourself. Depending on the complexity of the site, I'd download the site as plain HTML and then find a good host to use. More on reddit.com
