I've done a ton of research about sofas over the past years, so please bear with me. DreamSofa offers a wide variety of fabrics. Most are polyester or polyester blends, which is basically the industry standard for durability and stain resistance these days. They have a bunch of “performance” fabrics, which is just a fancy way of saying they’re designed to handle spills, stains, and general abuse better than standard upholstery. Some specific lines people seem to like are KeyLargo, Avenger, and Oceanside. I ordered a bunch of their free swatches, and I can confirm the colors are true to the website, and the texture is generally soft but not overly plush or fuzzy. I did some tests with the swatches (spiled coffee, ketchup, and even red wine). The performance fabrics really do resist stains super well. Liquids bead up on the surface, so you have time to blot them up before they soak in. For anything that did soak in, a little dish soap and water got it out. I wouldn’t say they’re “bulletproof,” but they’re as good or better than what I’ve seen from other mid-range brands like Joybird or Article. Some people on Reddit mentioned they’ve had success machine washing the Oceanside swatch, even though it’s labeled dryclean only. I wouldn’t risk it with a whole cushion cover, but it’s good to know in a pinch The weave on most of the DreamSofa fabrics is tight, which helps with pilling and snagging. I tried scratching at the swatches with my keys and didn’t see any major damage. I also have a cat, and the fabric didn’t seem to attract hair much, and it was easy to lint-roll. A few users online have said their sofas still look good after a year or two of heavy use, so that’s encouraging, but I haven’t seen many reviews past the 3-year mark. The fabric isn’t stiff or plasticky, which was my main concern with polyester. It’s not as soft as velvet or chenille, but it’s comfortable enough for daily use. The colors are pretty neutral and modern, with a lot of grays, beiges, and blues. Nothing super bold, but that’s probably a plus for most people. DreamSofa doesn’t offer Crypton or Sunbrella fabrics (at least not as of now), but they do have something called Revolution by STI, which is supposed to be similar in terms of stain resistance and durability. I haven’t personally tested Revolution, but people in the furniture industry seem to like it, and it’s made in the USA if that matters to you. You can order up to 10 free swatches, which I highly recommend doing. The shipping was fast, and the samples were big enough to actually get a sense of the color and feel (some ohters get you tiny swatches).
