do you necessarily need to love FAST, GAS GUZZLING, NEED FOR SPEED type cars? or if you simply like cars for their reliability and how well they're built? do you need to hold arcane knowledge about cars and what makes them go?
I am not a huge car fan but... I kinda held back on joining sone communities because my car knowledge seemed superficial. Nowadays im learning not to really give a damn, but i am curious as to what really makes somebody a car enthusiast.

If you've got a passion for cars, you're a car enthusiast. Theres car people who are super into car audio. Theres car people who custom build crazy pneumatic systems to make a truck bed dance Theres car people who spend all their time trying to make a car faster Theres car people who put their time into making a car unique to them, appearance-wise. Theres car people who are super passionate about EV or hybrid technology Theres car people who can't afford to have a nice car, but love going to car shows and talking about them. The passion is what makes you a car person, not the specific direction that passion takes you. No need to make the community toxic with gatekeeping.

I vaguely remember a quote when reading Wangan Midnight manga. There are 2 types of car people. Those who bleeds oil and those who bleed gasoline. Those who love working on cars and those who purely enjoy driving them. You can be both, and many people eventually do become both. Being around car long enough and you are bound to become more and more knowledgable mechanically. But you don't have to be both to be a car person. More on reddit.com
