r/Appliances on Reddit: Whirlpool dryer, no heat still spinning and blowing. model wed49stbw1
January 29, 2023 -

My first thought was failed heating element so i replaced that. Still no heat. When I replaced the heating element i thought i checked the thermal cutoff but when i checked it again today it was blown, totally could have checked it wrong last week but i remember it ohming out. the temp select switch might be the problem as i can only get continuity acrost 2 of the 3 selectors.

my current plan is to replace the temp select switch, the thermal cutoff and operating thermostat (which are sold as a pair), and the high limit thermostat. does this sound like a good plan or am i about to waist my money?

Is there anything else that is likely to be causing the problem?

Check the circuit breakers. I remember once something like this happened and it turned out that there were two lines grouped together and only one tripped causing this problem. More on reddit.com

Whirlpool Cabrio Electric Dryer WED8500DC Not Heating
As far as the circuit thing, electric dryers are 240 volt. If it is controlled by one breaker that is twice as wide as the normal breaker may even look like two pieces joined together, that’s a double pole(240v) breaker and that’s fine. Find your model number and post it here. There’s a sticker somewhere on it, usually on whirlpools it is inside the door area. Look around everywhere carefully. More on reddit.com
