I have read the pretty strict restrictions on fire pits and they seem pretty overboard and difficult to actually pack and bring with. I have no doubt that they will enforce these rules.
I have heard that there are often fire pits left behind that get shuffled around by previous guests though. Does anyone have any experience with these fire pits or tips on how to secure one of them if they are commonly left behind?

There is a Facebook group people post when they’re leaving and passing on a fire pit. I think it’s Fort Wilderness wandering fire pits.

I've never seen a fire pit left behind on any site. Most people that camp a fort wilderness are semi professional campers and are used to packing like this

There are no fire pits at the sites. They have a list of approved fire rings that you can bring otherwise no campfire. They do offer a campfire with Chip & Dale but bring your own s’mores stuff and sticks.

There aren't fire rings, they're elevated grills and you can't bring firewood. We never used the grill b/c there is so little room on the pad that nothing fit next to the car and trailer.
