Hi everyone,
I have a Samsung SmartTV (7 Series) which unfortunately doesn’t support bluetooth, meaning I can’t link my Bose NC700 wireless headphones with it.
What would be the best way to get around that except getting another TV?
Apparently there are Headset for TV like Sennheiser RS 175 that connects through the optical port and provides a pretty good audio quality.
But because I already have my Bose headphones, maybe it would be preferable to buy a bluetooth transmitter.
I guess an Apple TV + would do the trick too, I heard that it’s pretty good for bluetooth connection.
Honestly I’m quite lost, I’d appreciate your help and input! :-)
Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

Can one person listen to TV with headphones while the others hear it through TV speakers?
This will depend on whether or not your TV supports using multiple audio outputs simultaneously. This is generally not the case, but you can check your TV’s manual or contact the manufacturer for confirmation.
Can I use headphones with HDMI?
Yes, you can use headphones with HDMI, but not directly. HDMI transmits both audio and video signals, and most headphones do not have an HDMI input. Instead, you can use an HDMI audio extractor or converter. This device connects to the HDMI source and splits the audio signal from the video, allowing you to connect headphones through a standard audio output like a 3.5mm jack or RCA. Here’s a basic setup:
- Connect the HDMI source (e.g., a gaming console or Blu-ray player) to the HDMI input of the audio extractor.
- Use another HDMI cable to connect the extractor’s HDMI output to the TV.
- Connect your headphones to the extractor’s audio output using the appropriate cable or adapter.
This setup lets you receive audio through your headphones while the video signal is sent to your TV via HDMI. Remember, the specific type of audio extractor needed may depend on your headphones’ input requirements and the audio formats you wish to support.
Why doesn't the sound from the TV come through my headphones?
If the sound isn’t coming through your headphones when connected to the TV, consider the following troubleshooting tips:
- Check the Headphone Connection: Ensure the headphones are properly connected to the TV or the external device like a Bluetooth transmitter.
- Volume Settings: Verify that the volume is turned up on the TV and your headphones.
- Audio Output Settings: Check if the TV’s audio output is correctly set to your headphones. Some TVs require you to manually switch the audio output to headphones.
- Compatibility and Pairing: Ensure the headphones are compatible with your TV and, if using Bluetooth, that they are correctly paired.
- Battery and Charge: If using wireless headphones, check that they’re charged and powered on.
Bought my tv from Bestbuy: Samsung - 32" Class M4500 Series LED HD Smart Tizen TV
I'm not tech savvy, i spent 3 days reading up on DAC/RCA and still don't understand what those mean. I have bought multiple bluetooth transmitters at the recommendation of Bestbuy sellers and not one has worked! I'm angry to say the least of wasting so much money. They seem not to know what they are doing. So to Reddit i turn.
Can one of you look at the specification on my tv and recommend something that will turn my tv into headphone capable. I live in thin apartment walls, and don't want to disturb others. The specification says it has "Digital Optical Audio Output."
I have no clue what that means or what type of equipment my tv will recognize. I can do either bluetooth or wired connections. Amazon recommendations are best i'll take other stores too. Nothing over $50, please. I live in a state that is snowing/raining heavily. As a wheelchair user it's very difficult to return items at this time. So i need this product to work the first time around as i can't go back and forth to the stores. Any help is much appreciated!
As the title suggests, I'm trying to figure out how I can connect my wireless headphones to my tv so then i can watch dvds at night in my blu ray player without keeping my family awake. I have attached some photos of the ports available on my tv. I did already check to see if the tv has a built in bluetooth function but it doesn't unfortunately. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
