Putting glass top on reclaimed wood dining table?
Have you ever had a glass dining table? Everything is visible -- every fingerprint, smudge. You set something down and have to clean it. I had a glass sheet made for a small trunk table with added bumpers and it works, but it is not something that ever gets used. You also have to get upgraded tempered glass for dining. Glass tables look dirty all the time and are super loud. Just use coasters and trivets on a wood table and generally treat it nicely. Most of the series damage I see on wood tables is from nail polish remover, so if you can avoid that you should be good. I refinish furniture professionally so I’m not at all precious with my wood dining table (because I know I can fix it if needed), and it still looks fine after three years. More on reddit.com

I recently purchased a dining table built with reclaimed wood (e.g. something like https://assets.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/202115/0132/emmerson-reclaimed-wood-dining-table-o.jpg). I knew coming in that the surface may not be even but I didn't realize all of the inconveniences that actually come with that.
I am considering purchasing a custom glass sheet to lay over the dining table. I was planning on getting rubber bumpers (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61Jm0W0Xq4L.AC_SL1500.jpg) and laying them on the corners to support the glass.
Has anyone else done this? How did it turn out, and how does it look? Thanks!
