Hi!,They are the same, the only difference is that the P-145 is compatible with the optional three-pedal unit LP-5A, while the P-143 only supports one pedal (sustain). Answer from poppyofthetrees on reddit.com

I'm having trouble finding any comparisons between the two and was wondering what is different between the models. Looking to get my first digital piano and those are the two models I'm looking at. Is it just the voices or is there any difference between action? I think they can both only use one pedal but it's really hard to find any info since they are so new.

Finally got a job! After only...36 applications...ugh...

State of the job market aside, this means I'm soon to be in a position where I can finally ditch my crappy early 2000's hand-me-down keyboard for one that actually sounds and feels decent. My eyes have been on the 2 keyboards mentioned in the title for a while, but I was wondering if there have been any better options produced in the years since their release around the same price point, or if they're still my best bet. And if so, which one of the two would be the better option and why? Thank you! :)

Hi, my boyfriend’s birthday is coming up and I wanted to get him a piano for about 500-600$. I don’t really know much about pianos. Is there any recommendations you guys have. I was looking at the Yamaha P-143, is that a good piano ? My boyfriend isn’t a beginner but he also isn’t advanced. He learned when he was younger and he wants to get back into it. Thank you!!

Yamaha P143 vs Yamaha P45 [After Daily Use]
The Yamaha P45 weighs approximately 25 pounds, making it easy for a single person to carry. The P143, meanwhile, shaves off a couple of pounds, coming in at around 23 pounds, which enhances its portability slightly more, a feature appreciated ...

Does anyone else own a Yamaha p143? It was my understanding Yamaha phased out the p45 in favor of the p143 but my student just purchased one and the keys are slanted upwards, so much so that her wrists feel uncomfortable when playing. Can anyone tell me if theirs also does this?

r/piano on Reddit: Used/never played Yamaha P71 or new Yamaha P-143 or new Korg FP-10

My daughter (8 years old) is going to be starting piano lessons. I’d rather not get something that needs an immediate upgrade, so I’m looking at one of these that should last a handful of years (and if she gets really invested and needs an upgrade sooner, all the better).

I can get a used but never played Yamaha P71 through Reverb for about $400 total, and it includes a stand. Or, I could shop locally and buy new. With a stand, the P-143 or Roland FP-10 would cost around $565 new with a stand and tax.

I’m guessing that the latter two are better to some degree and wouldn’t have the risk of being used and shipping across the country. But $165ish more?

For what it’s worth, in all my years as a musician, I’ve mostly bought used equipment (mostly guitars, pedals, amps, etc). There generally isn’t a ton of risk of buying used, even sight unseen for electric guitars/amps/pedals. Though, I’m not sure of how it’s for digital pianos.

What advice do you have?

Yamaha P45 Vs P143 - Which Digital Piano Is Better For You?
October 2, 2025 - If all you need is a solid keyboard to get started without spending too much, the P45 does that really well. The Yamaha P143 feels like Yamaha listened to the feedback from P45 users and leveled it up.

I am looking to buy a new keyboard. Either I could buy a pre-owned P45 for much cheaper, or a new P145. I would rather spend little money, but above that would rather spend my money well. Is a P145 really that much better than the P45, in terms of sound quality and feel?

r/DigitalPiano on Reddit: Digital piano for getting back to playing - Yamaha p45 alternatives?
January 8, 2024 -

Hi all. I played the piano back when I was younger, even though I never got too good I had some fun and am looking to get into it again. My parents had an upright second hand piano which definitely sounded a bit off tune and old-ish in the last years of use, but it was still okay for me and my goals. Now I live in an apartment and am looking at digital pianos, I am thinking that a beginner piano would be a good choice for me. After looking around for a bit I thought the Yamaha p45 looked good, but then I can't seem to find places that sell/ship it to me. Is this an older version? In a lot of websites it appears as unavailable. Are there any versions (Yamaha or not) that would be similar or that you would recommend? Ideally I am thinking of spending around 500 euros although I could be convinced to spend a bit more. Thank you!

r/piano on Reddit: Torn Between Digital Pianos: Roland FP-10 vs Yamaha P45/P145
May 28, 2024 -

Hey everyone,

I'm really struggling with a decision and could use some advice from those who have experience with digital pianos. I'm currently deciding between the Roland FP-10, Yamaha P45, and Yamaha P145. However, I went to a store today and only managed to try out the Roland FP-30X and the Yamaha P145. Don't know how similar is the Roland FP-30X to the FP-10! I'm thinking of buying it used. And since I'm a beginner it's really hard to me to compare how the sound of each piano sounds different.

How do the FP-10 and P45 compare to the FP-30X and P145 in terms of touch, sound, and overall quality? Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
