How to install YouTube as a web app on Android
Kinda, late answer, but here is how I did it. At first it doesn't allow you to install youtube as a webapp on Android and only creates a shortcut. Tho, it came to my mind that you CAN install it if you are on Brave desktop version(I did it on my laptop). So, when you have opened YouTube in your Android browser, switch to Desktop View, then press the same button to "Add to Home Screen". Now it should let you to actually install the webapp. After that, just switch back to Normal view, aka switch off the Desktop view for youtube enjoy More on reddit.com

Moved to a Galaxy S21 after using iOS for almost a decade. I use Brave as my default browser because it has built-in youtube ad blocking. But whenever I click a youtube link in google, it opens in the youtube app, which I refuse to use bc of the incessant ads.
I've read some posts and watched some videos. They all pretty unanimously advise to go into apps, click youtube -> defualt -> de-select Open Supported Links. I have done so, force-killed youtube app, cleared my browser and memory cache and restarted the phone, but youtube google links still open in the app.
Am I missing something? Android 13/OneUI5

man I have a huge question... maybe I'm just shit at formulating what I want to get results for on Google... I'm use a vanced-like YouTube... I want my sent links to open in it and I can't... it just opens my usual YouTube and I'm forced to look at ads.... help? 90+ second ads with sometimes no skip button

I looked into this as well, and I can see what you're taking about -- tapping on any link in the description within the YouTube app will only open the link in the app browser, not Chrome or any other browser you choose. I can't find any setting to change that either.:-\ I suppose one workaround would be to view YouTube videos on the YouTube mobile site in Chrome, but that won't be as functional as the app.
