Hello!
My fiancé and I are moving into our first home together, but we’re running into some challenges with setting up our living room space. The room is on the smaller side (12ft x 12ft), and the windows make it a bit tricky to figure out the best layout.
We’d love to fit in a few essentials: a sofa (we’re considering a sectional, but we’re open to other options), a coffee table, a TV stand, and, of course, the TV. We want to make the space as functional and comfortable as possible, but we’re also hoping to make it feel a bit more spacious.
Any layout advice or tips for making a small room look bigger would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Don’t buy a sectional. They aren’t practical for small spaces. You need smaller scale furniture in a few pieces for versatility. Avoid the cheap and deep sectional pitfall. Buy classic lined pieces with low backs that are firmer and a good value. A loveseat, a chair with a matching ottoman, and another chair all in different fabrics. Furniture with actual legs will make a room look bigger.

Sectionals are good for big spaces and basements. You want an appropriately sized sofa maybe a storage ottoman and a couple of chairs so you can maximize seating without overcrowding your space. I would put the tv on the wall without windows and the sofa across from it.
