I thought it Brilliant. A near perfect study on dealing with grief from 3 different perspectives - the wife with whom the deceased had an unhappy marriage, the son, too young to process as a child, but stuck with the memory of what could be, and the friend/lover, who chose to hide away in the middle of nowhere, to avoid the possibility of having to face his grief. If the story could be trimmed down to under 2.5 hours, it would probably make a brilliant stage play - it’s pretty much a 3 hander already with a few minor extras. I kind of like that they didn’t end up together at the end. Wang does need to experience life more, and In wasn’t ready to leave the seclusion and isolation he had built for himself. Plus the ghost of Siam will likely forever haunt the relationship.
