1930s and 40s casual and sporting fashion
How people dressed in the early 1930s (average day in Manhattan)

Its funny how ties are becoming less and less common, a lot of work places in London see them as formal wear now, i.e. Interviews or meetings.
I really like pocket square and tie combo but it's hard not to feel overdressed which is such a shame as for a lot of suits it's a huge part of the customisation. Here's to wishing I was born 100 years ago.

I'm looking for a good book or two on everyday 1930s and 40s fashion. Most of what I find is fancy outfits or focussed on Hollywood or film costuming. Usually they offer many photos but no patterns or tailoring information.
I'm interested in working class clothing and hunting and sporting clothing for the purpose of building a durable, lasting wardrobe. I love looking at fancy gowns but I live on a farm and prefer sensible pieces for everyday life. Trousers are a big plus, men's and women's. I would appreciate any helpful information in this direction. Thanks in advance!
