Why is 1P subscription so expensive?

Value is in the eye of the beholder. For a company whose sole purpose is to protect my passwords, I hope they charge a premium because I want them to have all the resources they need to keep them protected. You can't compare this cost to other monthly subs. It's apples to oranges. More on reddit.com

Been paying the same family price (USD 59.85) since 2018, but won’t be surprised if they do raise prices in the future. That after all, is the price you pay for a software subscription, and not a 1 time license price, but the development and upgrades that has gone into it since is well worth it IMO. One thing worth considering is that 1Password is increasingly focusing their development on B2B features, and usually is a good sign because businesses are less price sensitive than customers and 1Password can pass costs on to them more than retail customers. I’m a longtime 1P user however I have the old 1P 7 which I purchased the lifetime sub. 1P then refused to keep updating when they switched to the subscription model which I get so that they keep steady income flow which I get. My question is, why is 1P $5 a month for a family? Or even more expensive $3 a month for individual? To put in perspective other subscription services such as Amazon offer countless benefits such as unlimited photo storage, video streaming library and unlimited shipping just to mention a few for $11 a month. Walmart has similar subscription model with a ton of benefits for under $10 a month. Netflix spends billions a year in generating content and the cheapest option is like $7 a month. Then there is 1P charging $5 a month to store 150mb of encrypted data 🤷🏻‍♂️ on their servers month after month with no major improvements. Do they offer a million dollar policy for data breaches or any other benefit? They don’t. I honestly don’t see any reasoning why the service should be that much other than taking advantage of a loyal customer base. If anyone knows why please explain…
