If your cabinet is a standard one, installing a file cabinet locking bar is an excellent option to lock the entire cabinet. They are pretty easy to install or you could have a locksmith install one for you. There are gang locks that lock all the drawers on one side of a desk with one turn of a key. Comp-X National makes them, but those are not easy to install and can take hours after you empty the cabinet, turn it upside down, remove the existing drawers and hardware, use a router to make a groove for the locking mechanism, and reinstall everything. It turns out to be a lot less costly to buy a new desk or cabinet that already has the kind of locking system you want. There are many old and new desks that automatically lock all the drawers on both sides when the center drawer is locked. There are efficient, space saving lateral file cabinets with safety features that prevent 2 drawers from opening at the same time so they won't tip over and squash a user. A full file cabinet can weigh as much as 2 adult humans! There are steel tool cabinets for shops and warehouses that are strong enough to hold as much as 300 pounds per drawer.
