so my 10-year old tv finally died, the backlight just gave out so it's finally time to upgrade.
I'm pretty set on a 65 inch. I mostly watch movies and stream shows, maybe some casual gaming on my PS5. I'd love an OLED but I'm worried about spending too much, my budget is $500 as much as possible but could be around $1,000 if the TV will be worth the price.
The thing is, I walk into a store or go online and there's just so many options and brands. Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, Hisense... Overwhelming. I hear some of the cheaper brands are actually pretty good now, but I don't want something that'll break in 2 years.
What 65 inch tv did you end up getting and are you happy with it? How important is the panel type (like QLED vs LED vs mini-LED) for just regular watching in a room with some windows?
Also, any major features you thought you'd use but ended up never touching? Like, is the smart tv interface actually good on these things or do you just use a Fire Stick/Roku anyway?
Will appreciate any advice. I feel like I'm going in circles just reading reviews.
Hi,
My Samsung 65" TV has stopped working. I accidentally spilled water on it, and now it won’t turn on.
I’m looking for a new TV with the latest technology, like OLED or Mini LED.
Since Labor Day is coming up, do you know of any websites that might have good deals?
Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you.
EDIT (08/21) :- Thank you all for your suggestion. I will buy either

Thank you all for your suggestion!
I know TV's are not exactly BIFL but you guys always know quality (if there is a better subreddit for this lmk) I don't know too much about TV tech to know what is the best and what is not, although I do see a lot of Samsung hate in the research that I've done on my own that makes me want to steer clear of that brand.
We get a lot of bright direct light in our living room. We enjoy gaming and movies/tv shows.
I'm leaning towards the LG - 65" Class C4 Series OLED evo 4K UHD Smart webOS TV (2024) but if there are better options around the $2k mark let me know!
