Hi all. My dumbass lost the case while at uni today. I’ve still got the actual AirPods, it’s just the case. I’ve told student services and they’ve sent an email out so I’m hoping they’ll turn up, but if in a week they don’t, I’m going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new case. Where is a reputable place to get one? I don’t have the serial number or anything as I don’t have the box as that’s at home and I’m trying to not tell my mum about losing them 🤣🤣 thanks (I’m from UK if that makes a difference)

My AirPod charging case is broken on the left AirPod pocket. So it’s not able to charge my left AirPod. How much does it cost to replace the case for a new one?

Apple’s website says the AirPods 3rd gen with MagSafe case charge with the Apple Watch charger. I cannot get my own AirPods 3rd gen MagSafe case (A2566) to charge on my Watch chargers. Is this an error on Apple’s site? Or did they stealthily update the 3rd gen’s charging case recently?

Just saw that genuine Airpods work with third party cases. What‘s the disadvantage with them? Is it the fact that there will be no more firmware updates? Anything besides?

not feeling like spending that much money rn

I discovered the other day that for some reason my AirPods 3 case now only charges when using a wireless charger, the cable doesn’t work, even though it used to before. First thing I did was check if the port was dirty, and it was very much clean. Just in case (heh) I still tried to clean it some more with a brush, but still no luck. Resetting the AirPods didn’t help either. Tried multiple cables that are known to be good, plugged them into the 20W and 67W Apple chargers, into my iPad, iPhone, and my MacBook, and the case doesn’t react to any of those, it doesn’t even show up in System Report when I connect it to my computer. It’s as if the port is just completely dead. I’m on a trip currently, so I had to urgently buy another wireless charger (didn’t take one from home), so I’m fine for the time being, but what can be the cause of this? And can it be fixed without getting a new case or another pair of earbuds? These are about 2,5 years old, but they’re still in otherwise great condition, they were rarely ever dropped, and I was always careful with them as I am with all my tech.

Recently brought the AirPods 3rd gen with the lightning charger and I now kind of wish I had splurged on the MagSafe case but I can't seem to find it being sold separately on the apple website do they not sell it separately?

This started yesterday. I let my airpods charge in the case over night without having it plugged into a wall. This morning I charged my case to full. I then disconnected my case and didn’t use my AirPods at all. 4 hours later my case’s battery life was down to 91%. I just got back home and recharged my case. In less than a minute the case was back down to 97%. I went to apple earlier today to see what was going on. They ran a test and said that my case was working normally. Why is it doing this though?

My boyfriend lost the case to his Gen3 AirPods but still has the actual AirPods. The apple site doesn’t show just the case for sale. Is there somewhere I can buy it?

Apple products, including Airpods, have optimized charging that "learns" your schedule and keeps them at 80% overnight, to extend the battery life. But there's no way to manually invoke that during the other times you're not using them, or if you don't have a predictable schedule. And there's no way I know of, outside of the case, to put them into a "sleep" mode so they won't drain the battery.

So, is it better for the batteries to only charge the Airpods up to 80% or so, and then remove them from the case, charging them again when they drop below e.g. 30%? Or to leave them sitting in the case with 100% charge? Which will cause more degradation, keeping them constantly at 100%, or the extra cycling of charging and discharging?

I use AlDente on my MacBook to always keep the battery around 75% when it's plugged in to power. But in that case, most of the power comes from the power adapter, and the battery is just kind of sitting there. Not so with Airpods, because you can't stop them from draining their batteries. I have the same question about the iPhone.

PS I know that some people think it's not worth bothering with trying to keep batteries between 30-80%, and that you should just use your product and forget about it. I'd rather not get into that debate, thanks - this is a technical question about which method would result in the longest battery life, if someone wants that.
