Sadly, Amazon Music doesn't work with Android Auto, as confirmed by their customer service agent. I installed a new Head unit in my car specifically to support Android Auto, and signed up for the Amazon Music service as I already have a Prime account. Although Amazon Prime Music worked well on my PC, and on my Roku in my Living room television, it wouldn't work with Android Auto r/AndroidAutomotive so I canceled. Customer service at Amazon was tops, they canceled my subscription and refunded the charges. I've signed up for Spotify Premium Individual and it's working well. I would have preferred the higher quality Audio, however the app functionality and user interface functionality is too important when driving, and Spotify plays well with Android Auto. FYI to all, have a great day.

Nonsense. AA works with Amazon music, period. Used it maybe 6 hours ago. Just look on your phone, do you have the Amazon Music app? Is it added to AA on your phone? If so the problem is your new install not AA and Amazon Music.

I'm an avid user of Amazon products - Audible, Prime, Amazon Music Unlimited, and Alexa. I have just bought a car with an Android Auto head unit, and I'm just learning how bad it is with Amazon Music. Amazon Music does sort of work, but it's awful. For example, if I try to play a playlist, it often doesn't start and somehow loses a lot of the tracks. If I navigate to a different playlist, I often have to tap it a few times before it responds. Searching via Google Assistant is also rubbish and reports back that it isn't supported. I can, however, play music and playlists using my Echo Auto, but if I do that, I'm limited to Alexa voice only controls as the skip/prev/pause buttons aren't linked in with the AA head unit. If I can not find a workable solution, I'm going to dump Amazon Music (after being a subscriber for several years) and find something else.

Did anyone encounter any problems while using Amazon Music in Android Auto? Because most of the time play butto doesn't work for me. Does it work from the car as long as you keep the app active on your phone? That's what I'm experiencing. Same with YT Music. Figure it's a permissions issue but I haven't had time to really troubleshoot it

Disable the Battery Optimization setting for any app that you want to use in Android Auto. I had this problem with my OnePlus 6 at the time. The apps where suspended by the OS and opening them in AA would just give me an non-responsive UI. Edit: I also saw that it worked for you for one song then crashed. Does the app have any settings to prevent streaming on a cellular connection? My podcast app had a similar issue where it would play anything cached and downloaded, but was set to not stream from a data connection. On AA, the application would just hang without an error message.
