Hey,

I'm looking to get a 7900 GRE but it's a bit pricy even tho I really want it.
So, when is the 8000 series expected to drop and will it have an immediate impact on 7000 series prices ?

For exemple the RX 6800 used to be more than 500€ but it now costs around 300-400€.

Based on what alot of people are saying the rx8800 should drop this year, most likely november or december, as for price cuts i think you should aim for prime day or black friday/cyber monday as they are most likely going to be clearing out stock before the release od the 8000 series

I saw yesterday talk of the 8000g but those aren't supposed to be the "7800x3d upgrade" aren't they?
Just care about the CPU but would like to know the expected timeframes.

pencil in 2025, you would be looking at 7-8 months after the usual 8000x series comes out.

Even if Ryzen 8000 comes this year, I doubt we will see RDNA4 anytime soon. RDNA3 was significantly delayed. I bet we see a half-assed refresh at most (akin to 7600XT)

EVGA 800 GE, 80 Plus Gold 800W

I mainly play e-sports games, so I don't think I need to replace the RTX 2060. I know that in CS:GO, the RTX 2060 and RTX 4090 get almost the same fps.

And I know CS:GO and Valorant are cpu-heavy games, but why is it that in Valorant they literally get the same fps and the only thing that changes is the cpu usage rate? There is a 30 fps difference in CS:GO, which is not significant, and none in Valorant.

And I wonder if there will be a price difference between the R5 7600X and the R5 8600X (in USD).

Just go for it. When the 8000 series is out you'll consider waiting for the 9000 series.

My man is not content with 1200+ fps while 500+ fps is more than enough since difference in refresh rate would be less than 1 ms. Bro 7600 will be enough for the next 10 years.

Frankly they could have made a 24 core back when they launched zen 2.. "could" being the word as it would have required a shrunk IO die.. and it'd be a tight fit and cost a pretty penny. I think they'll launch either a 24 or 32 core consumer model come Zen 5... since supposedly it uses either a 12 core CCD or potentially 16 core CCD. In which case 2 of either of those would provide a 24/32 core count solution, to which AMD should be able to completely kick intel in the face in the work horse area again. If AMD sticks with the 12 chiplet epycs, that would allow them to spit out 192 core cpus, and if the rumour is true for 128 core epycs arriving soon, that'd mean they jammed 16x 8 core chiplets on the package potentially UNLESS they are 16 core chiplets and they went back to putting 8 chiplets on a package.... guess we'll find out. Regardless, If amd can provide 6 and 8 core products as basically budget options soon, making 10/12 core midrange and 14/16 core upper tier before slapping on another CCD cranking it up to 24 or 32 at the top tier... bring it on. As the lowest common denominator is the standard used for program and game development, which means that if plenty of cores and threads are available at the bottom level, this is incentive to develop things that can properly push multi threading to which i refer to exhibit A being unreal's Chaos Physics engine as a function of a game capable of leveraging it (by default it's set to 2-4 threads in most games in order for most systems to function with a 4 core limit).

Life is too short. if you need an upgrade now, upgrade now.

Zen 5 is still a long ways away. There isn't any silicon in production yet (at least not close to retail SKUs), all leaks are just conceptual slides. So we have absolutely no idea how it will perform or when it will launch. Ryzen 8000 series in mid 2024 may end up being a refresh of Zen4 instead of new architecture.

AMD being AMD. Also, there was a transition phase with the implementation of AI stuff I think, like, 8000 series CPUs were all with AI stuff in them, but it was too early to release a GPU with AI so they skip 8000s and waited for 9000s instead. I might be wrong.

I'm doing the same as you, i suggest you wait for the 9000 cpu series to see what those are capable of, and depending on the budget you can buy one of those or just go for ryzen 7 or x3d version (7800x3d), buy an used gpu to make it work and deliver decent performance for a while (plenty of options) and when the 8000 series come out just sell the used gpu and buy a new one then, choosing between the 8000 series, battlemage intel, or any nvidia/amd current models if those are more performant or cheaper (probably not cheaper than 8000 radeon).
