We grew up on restaurants like Sizzler, Old Country Buffet, Golden Corral, Shakey's, and Cici's. All of which have long since pulled out of the region many years ago. We have an excellent Asian buffet with very good sushi, hibachi, and other things but are looking for a buffet based on American food. We are in the Germantown/ Gaithersburg area so certain portions of Montgomery County are within a reasonably short travel time. Any suggestions?

Yep. Like an Old Country buffet where I can get Mac and cheese, potatoes, broccoli, and so on. Indian and Asian buffets are great but don't hit the spot.

The best Golden Corral in the USA, as voted by the overall chain at least twice, was a tiny franchised location in Marysville whose owner kept some of the previous standards, such as the butter dinner mints, for years after they were discontinued by the chain. The owner sold it circa 2018, Golden Corral took away the franchise, and it eventually closed. A new Golden Corral opened in Puyallup, but it isn't as legendary. Most of the casino buffets have closed except the ones at the Snoqualmie Casino (expensive) and Legends Casino near Toppenish, the latter which used to do a Native American theme night with venison (deer and elk), Columbia River steelhead, smelt, bison, and many other meats.
