After Mattel bought Pleasant Company in 1998, things started to slowly change. Over the years the dolls became much thinner and acquired body tags. Their neck stamp changed from Pleasant Company to American Girl.

Kirsten Larson Doll Value: Authenticity and Resale Insights
Customer: Hello -- I have an original Kirsten Larson doll from 1986 which was made, along with her clothing, in West Germany and signed and dated by Franz Gotz on her belly. I've never seen her costume before on any Kirsten Larson doll, and I've never seen another Kirsten doll with BROWN eyes. As opposed to the other Am Girl dolls I have seen, she has no eyebrows either -- the old straight or new feathered ones.
