Amex Platinum has no foreign transaction fees, but there may be a fee if you use an ATM (the screen should say what it is).

Do you get options to be charged in USD or Pound!? If so what do you select? You should always select local currency whatever it is wherever you travel in the world. If you select USD, business owners will charge you anywhere from 3-4% in conversion fees
How do I know if my credit card charges a foreign transaction fee?
Check your credit card agreement. If your card charges a foreign transaction fee, it should be listed under “fees.”

Foreign transaction fees
No matter what card you use, some ATMs or Merchants will give you the option to charge in your currency (eg USD). They usually say upfront that there’s like a 5% fee or if they don’t it might be even worse. You always want to decline this and charge in the local currency. More on reddit.com
