If all goes well, I'm finally getting an iPhone 11 tomorrow! Since I'll be getting the new packaging, which do you think is better? The Anker Nano or Apple charger? Both are 20-watt chargers, but I'm wondering if there's a difference. As for the price, the one from Anker is cheaper by $15 compared to that of Apple's.

Also, I'd like to know your stand: 5W charger that charges slowly but is better for the battery in the long run or 20W charger that supports fast charging but relatively degrades the battery faster?

I use an Anker charger myself about 99% of the time. I did purchase it because it was cheaper than the Apple brand. I’ve had my phone for quite some time and I’m sitting at 97% battery health. I’m not too sure if it does affect the battery life or not in the sense of it degrading or not.

No, there's no difference other than the price and size. Both can supply up to 20W. Which power adapter you buy (5W vs. 20W) depends on how important fast charging would be for you. I timed it once just out of curiosity, and so of course I used a full charge from 0 to 100% for this timing test. With the 5W power adapter, it was well over 4 hours - about 4 hours and 30 to 45 minutes if I recall. With the 20W power adapter, it was 2 hours and 20 minutes. That much I remember because my jaw was on the floor. :) I don't only recharge my iPhone while I'm sleeping, so charging speed is very important to me.

Hi.

I would like to buy a quality charger for iPhone 13 Pro and based on research the options for me are either Nano II 30W (EU version) or Nano Pro 20W (Anker 511 Nano Pro, EU version). I would prefer the 30W, because I also own a MacBook Air and Surface Laptop 3 and I could optionally also charge those two, but I am a bit concerned about the battery life of the iPhone. Some reviews mentioned that using 30W charger gets the phone a bit hot (and temperature decreases battery life).

Any comments to this? Suggestions? Thanks a lot,

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the decrease in battery life being a huge issue seeing as the drainage is really only felt years down the line and nowadays most people upgrade after two years. As far as which wattage, 30W is more than enough for your iPhone as the max it takes is about 27W. However, as far as your MacbookAir/Surface Laptop 3 go, 30W would be a little on the weaker side seeing as the standard laptop takes in about 60W to fully charge while in use. A 30W charger would simply prevent your Macbook Air from losing charge faster than if it were not plugged in. I would probably recommend the Anker 511 over the Nano II seeing as this Anker 521 Charger (Nano Pro) isn't available in EU :L

The phone takes care of it's battery and only draws full power for a short time span. You should also check, if your phone has a slower overnight charging mode. This would be the best for it's battery. As your phone won't pull more than 27W, I recommend you to buy the Nano II charger with the same power as the Macbook and Surface Charger. Even the 65W charger isn't tremendously oversized for a phone charger, just a little bit heavy.

The Anker costs less and has a lifetime warranty. Besides, Apple was a jerk for not including a charger with my iPhone, claiming it was environmentally better. I think it was to save money on the units plus a bonus when selling us a charger. It was like buying a car and being told the ignition key is extra.

I don’t think I’ve ever bought an Apple charger; whenever I’ve needed to actually buy a charger, it’s been Anker all the way. For chargers, power banks, and cables. Never had a bad product from them.

Well off the bat the wattage is different. Your standard iPhone Apple charger is 20W.

I believe it’s the same product. On the anker site it says “anker 511 charger (nano pro)” in its description. Could be that it’s the same product with different names for different geographic markets?
