What is the issue with the power bank?
We identified a potential manufacturing defect involving lithium-ion battery cells supplied by a single vendor. These cells, commonly used in the consumer electronics industry, were included in three PowerCore models sold in multiple markets.
This issue was detected through enhanced quality assurance protocols that Anker implemented after a previous recall. While the likelihood of malfunction is considered minimal, we are initiating a voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution.

I just looked at their recall article and it seems to me there is no reason to assume the power banks from them are no longer worth buying. Yes, they discovered an issue but it seems to be with only one of their vendors. And I’d say it’s safe to assume they’re mitigating future issues with that vendor. Also the fact that they are doing preventative recalls instead of forced ones (because of bad publicity or lawsuits caused by product malfunction) gives me confidence in their management. Rather then wait and hope for it to be fine they have taken it upon themselves to avoid potential damages and put their customer safety above profit. It sucks that a premium product has this kind of issue. But I’m more inclined to buy again from a company that has improved their QA and is taking proactive measures to avoid problems in the future rather then quietly hope the issues don’t get back to them and see what happens. Just my two cents though…

Finding problems and recalling them to fix the problem is a good thing. Toyota has about 25 recalls a year and are the most reliable car maker.
