Please help me rethink my living room. Interior Design/decorating ideas? 1800โs farmhouse, would like to keep an antique theme.
I think you have two different potential aesthetics in your living room - one is lighter, neutral, farmhouse antique while the other is darker, eclectic antique. Which one do you lean towards?
The white couch and the blue chest are the odd ones out in my eye - the white couch is brighter and more modern, while the blue chest is a pastel in an earthy/neutral room (and is also too small/too short for the space).
My personal preference would to lean into the eclectic antique: Keep the leather armchairs. Either buy a new large rug that is proportional to the room or layer a rug underneath the current rug if you like this one too much. Recover the couch in a blue or gold picked up from the rug. Find an antique sideboard or buffet for underneath the tv.
ETA: also, I'd replace the grommet curtains with something a little more traditional, maybe pick up colors from the rug again. I actually wouldn't do a Roman blind or other inside-the-trim treatment because it would cover up that stained glass detail. I'd probably do drapes with a rod pocket.
