Apple Pencil gen 1 and gen 2
The Apple Pencil you get is dependent on the iPad you get. You don’t get to choose. The “base” regular iPad has gen 1 pencil, all others use gen 2 (at least, with the current generation of iPads). But difference wise, gen 2 is matte, has a flat edge, and I think is the only one with a double tap feature (can be used to switch pen vs eraser). Gen 1 is glossy, all round. Honestly the only thing I prefer about gen 2 is charging, much more convenient. But that’s person decision on if the better charging is worth the upgrade form iPad 9 to an air/pro. More on reddit.com

Apple will replace the battery for £25 ($25 too, I think). Even if you don’t need it any more, it’ll then sell for 3 times that amount. More on reddit.com
