Apple TV 4K 3rd worth it?

I'm not up-to-date with Apple products unfortunately - so there's two reasons that make me ask if now is a bad time to buy a new 3rd gen Apple TV (wifi + ethernet option).
First off, it's full price right now ($149.99 at most major retailers). I've seen posts like this one where the 3rd gen Apple TV went on sale at Costco for just $99 (back in Aug of 2023). Do sales on this product happen often? Should I wait until there's another sale? $50 is a great discount.
Secondly, is there a new, 4th gen, Apple TV coming out anytime soon? Would it be worth it to just wait a little bit longer until the next model comes out?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice!
I recently removed all Homepod Minis from my Home and was confident that the current-gen AppleTV 4k model that is running will take over the Thread duties.
Boy was I wrong. After days trying to remove/reset/add my Eve Energy sockets with all combinations of buttons pressed ... i finally found out that my current-gen AppleTV 4k is not supporting Thread at all. Because it's only the 64GB version, not the more expensive 128GB model.
Maybe this info will save someone time in the future. I lost enough of mine trying to figure out what's wrong with my setup.
tl;dr: Only the AppleTV 4k (3rd gen) 128GB model supports Thread. The 64GB model does not support Thread.
Hi, I want to buy a apple TV but wonder if its worth to buy the 3rd gen 4K now. Its released in 2022 so isn’t there a new version coming up? So is it better to wait a few more weeks/months?
Should I exchange it? I use it to stream 4k movies and haven’t run into any issues yet but i feel like for only $20 more it’s worth.
I just ordered an ATV 3rd gen off of Reebelo to use as an airplay receiver and the listing said that it has 64gb of storage, and I thought it only came with 8gb of storage that wasn’t accessible by the user. Was the ATV 3rd generation ever sold with a 64gb variant?
