If you have an Ethernet device (such as a DSL or cable modem, or an Ethernet hub or router) connected to your Mac, and it doesn’t seem to be working properly, check the cables and network settings, and restart the device and your Mac. Check the Ethernet cable to make sure it’s not damaged.

October 23, 2023 - It was a very functional apple tv once... Factory reset already performed. Not allowing to set up as new apple tv, looks like stuck on ethernet even when not connected through ethernet and also when connected to ethernet doesn't work. The other 2 apple tv's work fine.

I also know the switch and router ports work with other devices. The tip off that the Apple TV port is the problem is the fact that the LAN lights on the router or switch into which I connect the Apple TV does not light. This indicates a hardware issue where no Ethernet connection is established.

March 31, 2025 - Infuse on my apple TV, macbook, iphone works flawless with WiFi connection across all devices. The moment I plug my APPLE TV into ethernet via my Orbi router port it fails to connect. Other devices still working. Streaming on my AppleTV across all other services works on ethernet.

November 10, 2023 - When trying to set up the apple tv with my iphone or ipad, it fails, try the manual option, but doesn't want a wireless connection, its like if its remember when was plugged to the ethernet and when trying to config the IP, DNS, etc manually, the automatic overwrites my changes (even when I set it to MANUAL), is simply not allowing me to set it up. August 31, 2023 - Apple TV is supposed to auto-detect when anything is plugged into the ethernet port, and then disable Wi-Fi. If that doesn’t happen, then that auto-detect functionality may be broken. That may have a physical cause (dust in the port, or hardware defect), or a software cause (unlikely but possible, as in principle your tvOS software should be the same a everyone else’s).

April 12, 2024 - If none of the above solutions work, you will have to take the drastic steps of resetting your Apple TV: Go to Apple TV Settings > System > Reset. Select Reset or Reset and Update and choose Reset again. Once your Apple TV is reset, set it up again. If the problem continues, follow these steps to reset and restore its firmware.
