So it might be confusing but that port is to charge the device it’s connected to. So you’d use this on your Mac, and then plug your Mac charger into that port. It’s so you can still charge your MAC while taking up a USBC port. Really only useful on older Mac’s with single USBC ports.

Heya community!
About a year ago I bought MacBook Air M1. I mostly use it as a laptop, but I'd like to use it more connected to my monitor. With the MacBook, in the same IT store I bought some 3rd party "no-name" USB-C adapter with HDMI, USB-A and USB-c ports. I know that there is a difference on how MacOS renders fonts on non-retina displays, but output of text on my 23.8 inch 1920x1080p monitor looks really bad when using HDMI via this adapter, as compared to how Linux and Winshit are rendering it (using Linux and Winshit withut this adapter).
I am thinking that there might be a possibility that text looks even worse on MacOS due to this adapter that I have perhaps? I am wondering if you guys might have some information about this and if official Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter (which is fairly pricey, the usual) might work better? I am thinking about buying it but figured I'd come here first.
I know it's probably best to use official Apple adapters, but I don't want to shell out 70 euros for this thing if it won't be an improvement...
